Aidan O’Rourke is a fiddle player and composer from Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. He has toured extensively in Europe and North America since the age of 15 and has made his name as one Scotland’s most expressive and dynamic musicians. At the age of 19 he formed ‘Tabache’ with Claire Mann and recorded the internationally acclaimed album “Waves Of Rush”.

Aidan now performs with the hugely successful Blazin’ Fiddles (Live Act Of The Year 2004), Unusual Suspects, Kevin MacKenzie’s Vital Signs and a new and exciting trio called Lau which he has formed with Kris Drever and Martin Green. Aidan is much sought after as a session musician, having performed on over 60 albums, ranging from Runrig to Michael McGoldrick and Karen Matheson, and as a composer with the likes of Flook and Wolfstone using his material.

Recently he was nominated as ‘Instrumentalist Of The Year’ at the Scots Traditional Music Awards and has been out on tour with Blazin’ Fiddles, who appeared at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the proms and also headlined the Cambridge Folk Festival. “Sirius” is Aidan’s first ‘solo’ album and has evolved from a commission by the Celtic Connection festival in 2003. This exceptional piece of work incorporates a wide variety of musical styles which have influenced Aidan O’Rourke‘s life. This is sure to be heralded as another masterpiece from this outstanding talent.
