Description
Composed by Donald Shaw and Charlie McKerron of the Celtic supergroup Capercaillie, the ‘Gruth is Uachdar’ soundtrack combines some of the world’s leading traditional musicians with the classical sounds of the award-winning BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
The result is music which is beautifully intimate, refreshingly earthy and comic, but also sweeping and majestic… bringing a truly epic and cinematic feel to the production and perfectly matching the breathtaking natural setting of Harris.
Part of the recording of the soundtrack coincided with the world famous Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow – and Donald and Charlie were fortunate in having access to some of the world’s finest traditional musicians. Appearing on the score are players including Michel Bordeleau from La Bottine Souriante, guitarist Tony McManus, flute player Michael McGoldrick, harmonica player Brendan Power, percussionists Jim Sutherland and James Mackintosh, guitarist Kris Dever, guitar/melodeon player Tim Eadie, Bouzouki player Manus Lunny, piper Rory Campbell, Ewen Vernal on double bass, Allan MacDonald on jaws harp and Harald Hugaard on Scandinavian fiddle.
